I created a star matrix question with custom images.  The custom images appeared on page load and changed correctly on mouse-over, but reverted to stars when selected, even though I had set images for all three possibilities.  I then wanted to edit that question but found no way to access options for the images.  I tried in the answer type editor as well.  On loading the page subsequently all the images have reverted to the standard option buttons (this may have been because I resaved the answertype for Selection-Image?).  Any suggestions?  PS I am using Firefox 3.6 and IE8 had the same problem.

Also, would it be easy to have a star matrix answer type where only the selected star changed image, rather than all the stars to the left?

Hi,

to change or edit a star image you need to run the following query
UPDATE vts_tbAnswerType SET TypeMode = 513 WHERE AUID = '5f5f3321-1561-4bfe-be88-79807f8c3b91'

and have to do it from the answer settings page, note that currently its not possible to change the images for matrix based columns this will be available in the next release.

You would need to create a custom answer item using the SDK but while it looks fairly simple its actually quite complicated to do, the next version features such an extension where you can replace the selection html items (radio, checkboxes) by images but this will be global to the survey. 

Tom, that feature on the next release sounds cool.  Do you have an ETA for that release?
